Ilse Crawford is a creative director in the fields of brand creation, interior architecture and product design. A pioneer of tackling the human element in all aspects of her work, Crawford begins by address- ing the social and behavioural context with an emotional and intelligent approach. She uses design strategy as a means for change and revitalisation.

Crawford was the founding editor of Elle Decoration magazine, now published in 23 countries. She has more than 20 years at the forefront of the international design world, and founded her London- based practice, Studioilse, ten years ago. The studio’s work includes commercial, hospitality, retail and residential projects that span the globe and have become benchmarks in the industry. In 2013 Crawford received the AD Spain International Prize for influential work in architecture, design, and interior design, then in 2014 she was awarded an MBE for services to interior design.

In addition to her studio Crawford is the founding head of Man and Wellbeing department at the Design Academy in Eindhoven. She lectures widely on subjects of business and design and has published two books about her design philosophy (Sensual Home and Home is Where the Heart is).
