Karan Khanna joined IHG’s European development, design and openings team in April 2014 as vice president design & engineering. Karan started his IHG career in June 2011 as vice president strategy and planning for Europe. As part of this role, he led the development of the long-term strategy for the region including the growth plan for Hotel Indigo. Khanna joined IHG from McKinsey & Co. where his focus was consumer and retail. During his three years at McKinsey, he worked on multiple strategy and operational projects designing the store operating model for one of the world's largest fashion and home goods retailers, and developing a new customer experience journey for a leading UK telecoms provider. Karan began his working life in India as a sports journalist and TV commentator and spent five years at Cadbury Schweppes where he worked in commercial strategy and brand management. Karan holds a MBA with Distinction from INSEAD, a Post-Graduate in Marketing from The Chartered Institute of Marketing and a BA (Hons.) in Economics from Delhi University.
