Robert was born and brought up in the hotel industry and is regarded as a veteran of developing hotel brands in the UK and Europe. Robert spent nine years building the critically acclaimed brands of Malmaison and Hotel du Vin before moving to the Devere a Group where he reshaped and rebranded Village Urban Resorts. Prior to joining Malmaison in 2004, Robert was instrumental in developing Ken McCulloch's brands of Columbus and Dakota Hotels. In 2008 he was presented with an Honorary Doctorate from the Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen for his services to the hotel and catering industry, and in 2006 he was Awarded a Catey as manager of the year. In 2007 and 2008 Malmaison & Hotel du Vin were awarded AA Hotel Group of the Year. Robert now has his own consultancy practice, where he is working on various hotel and golf projects around the UK.
