Timothy Griffin - The Hoxton
Timothy is brand director of The Hoxton, where they started doing things differently on the East London scene back in 2006 when The Hoxton, Shoreditch opened. Back then we were labelled the "no bull shit" hotel, because we took away everything that pissed people off in traditional hotels and did things differently. Today we’ve evolved, just like the neighbourhood we first started in, but that ethos of challenging the norm is still at the heart of what we do. We're now building a series of hotels around the world, finding new and exciting neighbourhoods to open our doors in. The second Hox recently opened in Holborn and we've got Amsterdam, Paris and Williamsburg all on the cards plus a whole host of other sites coming soon. As brand director, Timothy oversees PR, Hoxtown Events, graphic design, creative, digital and all things Hox for The Hoxton series of hotels. Previously, Timothy was general manager of the 210 bedroom Hoxton Shoreditch, and prior to joining the Hoxton team in 2011, he was executive house manager at the Lancaster London overseeing Rooms Division operations at the 416 bedroom hotel, and then executive food and beverage manager responsible for the operation of five food and beverage outlets within the hotel. Timothy spent a decade in the United States at the five diamond Hilton Short Hills in New Jersey as director of front office operations and at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York City in a number of different roles including assistant director of front office operations, director of group services and assistant executive housekeeper. Whilst in New York City, Timothy taught post graduate students rooms division operations at the NYU. Timothy is an alumni of Thames Valley University where he graduated with a BA (Hons) in Hospitality Management. He is a member of the St. Julian’s Scholars, having successfully secured a Savoy Education Trust Scholarship for the Accelerated Talent Development Programme at Cranfield University School of Management. Timothy is keen supporter of programmes encouraging young people to pursue a career in hospitality, and contributes as an Oxford Brookes University Bacchus mentor and as a Springboard Ambassador.
