Angela Ellis started her career in hotels as a room attendant in the housekeeping department at the Grosvenor House Hotel. After four years she moved to back-of-house security before returning through housekeeping with roles at the Sloane Club, Dorset Square Hotel, and Great Fosters Hotel in Egham, Surrey. After a brief spell working in residential estate agency she joined The Zetter Hotel as head housekeeper. In the last year of her housekeeping management position, the Zetter Group, which by this time had three London properties, promoted 15 of its staff to other positions within the company, including maintenance assistants, receptionists, housekeeping floor supervisors, housekeeping managers and waiting positions within the restaurant team.

In December 2015, Ellis was asked to become the deputy GM, and five months later she was promoted to general manager of the Zetter Hotel and Townhouse Clerkenwell. The company has since launched its Future stars programme and Zupervisors club, to identify future stars and supervisors of the future and develop them in order to give them the skills that they need to go further and become part of the future of the Zetter Hotel, and Townhouses. Its next step is opening a 91-bedroom hotel in Manchester, in late 2018.
