Owner and founder

Manuela Mannino Hickson | Italian Architect, graduated in MS Architecture in 1993, she is RIBA, SBID and OAT.

She is owner and founder of The Hickson Design Partnership with Nick Hickson, specializing in international hospitality. Current projects include Mediterraneo Sorrento boutique hotel, Hilton Molino Stucky Venice, Hilton Diagonal Barcelona and Cameron Mackintosh theatres public areas.

Nick and Manuela unite different cultures and are skilled in integrating with international teams on site. They understand flexibility.

Since 2015 Manuela has taught the Hotel Interior Design Short Course at the prestigious Chelsea College of Art in London. She runs four professional courses, Introduction to Hotel Design and Design for social spaces in London and Luxury boutique hotel and Material specifications in Dubai during Dubai Design Week.

Her approach is to insert the guest in the centre of the process of designing the hotel as a connected environment with the location, urban or rural. But also connected from the guest out and his/her perception of space, light, colours, smells and functions.

Recently THDP has been awarded at the SBID awards for innovative product design, with a surface finish with vintage bronze effect.

She also works on product design, interior refurbishments and conversions for private clients. Working in London since 2000 on residential developments projects for the contract company CP Hart. She moved back to Turin in 2005 to design the largest Olympic Resort in Pragelato, for Turin 2006 Winter Olympic games. She moved back to London in 2013, however she feels she belongs to both Italy and UK and enjoys the challenges of international projects.

Member of RIBA as chartered architect, SBID and the Italian Board of Architects OAT.
