Mike is a serial NED. He is consultant to the board of Corte Realdi sprl, an innovative, boutique, luxury accommodation provider based in Verona, Italy. Previously he has held non exec positions with the luxury hotel group The Salviatino Collection in Italy, and Lester Hotel Management Services in the UK. He is chair of optimal monitoring, a UK based energy management firm. He is involved with various projects in the hospitality and food & drink space in the area of brand and operational performance improvement. He writes for various travel & hospitality publications and is a regular contributor at industry conferences & events. Prior to his career going plural he was senior vice president marketing and sales EMEA for Hilton Worldwide.
During a thirty-year career in hospitality worked for global brands like Intercontinental Hotels as head of global sales and development, Sheraton as head of advertising for EMEA and VP Marketing Africa, and was MD of Utell then COO & and CEO of The Real Hotel Group plc. He started his career in hospitality with Trusthouse Forte in the UK.
Mike’s skills and experience come together to form a powerful strategic thinker and vision creator with the ability to be a strong and focused executor. He combines a disciplined approach to task management with strong team building and communication skills; he has an excellent track record of leading multi-disciplinary teams on a wide variety of projects delivered on time and on budget and has demonstrated an ability to act as the catalyst that aligns shareholder and management objectives into singular & achievable goals.
Mike holds an MBA from Oxford Brookes University where he is a Visiting Fellow. He is also a graduate member of The Chartered Institute of Marketing. He has two daughters, one living in Charlotte NC, USA and working in commercial real estate, one in the UK and working in travel procurement. He lives in South Bucks, England with wife Linda and outside of work is a keen yachtsman, and skier, enjoys cycling, running (six marathons, no longer counting) and chairs the local RNLI (lifeboats) committee in Bourne End & Beaconsfield.
